face.1I got carded again. It’s the third time in six months and trust me, I’m as surprised as you are. But this time I had a witness – my mom. Being on the north side of fifty, I am sure you can appreciate just how happily shocked I am. I called a few friends to share the good news; if I didn’t call you consider yourself lucky – I’m told there’s nothing like a smug friend breathlessly calling from her cell phone to ‘share the good news’.

But since then a few have indulged me by asking what I use. I figure if I share, perhaps you’d share with fellow members those skin supplements you can’t live without, as well. Nothing like a few girlfriend secrets you love!

Here’s my skin regiment:

CLEANSING: I’m in love with all the Sensai products by Kanebo. I get mine at Saks Fifth Avenue but I think they’re also available at Barney’s.

  • Sensai Silky Purifying. The multi-step cleansing products feel fabulous on the skin. They supposedly have silk threads in them.
  • Sensai Premier The Lotion by Kanebo. $300. It’s ridiculously expensive (actually I didn’t know it was that expensive since I bought it at during Friends and Family day at Saks with a bunch of other products so I never noticed the price) but I just absolutely love it – can’t live without it. I use it as toner after I wash my face but before serums and lotions.
SERUMS: I was told by my facialist that serums are even more important than creams.  I put one to two on in the morning and a different one to two at night under my face cream.

  • SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF. This is an antioxidant and available at Spa Radiance in San Francisco, but you can also purchase through Vivanista. The Vivanista price is $109 through Vivanista’s partner, Amazon (you can buy pretty much anything through Amazon and, remember, 2% goes to charity if you purchase through Vivanista!). The Spa Radiance price is $150.
  • SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic. The Vivanista price through Amazon is $97 and the Spa Radiance price is $135.

DAILY CREAMS

  • NIGHT: Anti-Age Night Recovery Cream by Rodan and Fields. Not sure where to buy this – I got mine direct. If enough members were interested perhaps Vivanista could set up a Rodan & Fields boutique. I like their day cream also but I ran out. I also use Retin-A about once a week.
OTHER LOTIONS AND POTIONS
  • SUNSCREEN: Anthelios by La Roche-Posay Lab, 40 SPF. I bought mine through Dr. Megan Scully but you can also purchase through Vivanista’s partner, Amazon.com.
  • Toki: Collagen and Mucopolysaccharide Supplement. ‘Porcelain Skin from Within’ by Lane Labs. $195. This is a Japanese supplement that my facialist at Spa Radiance recommended. I mix a scoopful of this every morning with water and drink it although it’s not particularly tasty. I don’t know if it works or not but given that I’ve been carded three times since I started it about a year ago, maybe it does work!
