In hard economic times, what keeps you motivated to give to needs greater than your own?

As kids we were told to eat all of our food because children were starving in China; but as we got older these realizations took new forms. In hard economic times, what is it that keeps you motivated to give to needs greater than your own?

  3. The fundamental understanding that it only takes a spark to get a fire burning.. And it’ll all come back.. everything is vitally interconnected, and yes, what goes around, it comes around..

  4. How true. I became a member of The Cancer League in the East Bay in 2005. We raise money for cancer research, patient care and public education that stays in the Bay Area. In 2008, I was diagnosed with Lymphoma and became one of the people helped by local research. Because of a recent chemotherapy breakthrough at Stanford, I went from stage 4 to cancer free in five months.
Just as important to me was the great outpouring of help and encouragement extended to me by the Cancer League members. Many are cancer survivors and all have some experience with cancer through family and friends.
Being part of this group of smart, talented, caring women and being a recipient of our good work keeps me motivated.
The economy is in recession but cancer is not.
