Congratulations! You’ve scored the top spot as chair of your favorite charity event. It’s an honor bestowed on to only a select few and now you’ve joined the ranks. As chair, you plan to tackle the job with style and a studied a vengeance. You’ve got months of work ahead of you, you realize much of your life will be put on the backburner as you juggle guest lists, committees, catering, Rsvp’s and marketing.

Sure, you’ll have to make some lifestyle cutbacks for a few months, but how can you do so without jeopardizing your relationship? Can you really keep your sweetie happy in a time of chaos?

Absolutely, But you’ll have to make some extra efforts along the way.

People don’t plan to fail they fail to plan. And planning to keep your partner happy is the first step towards maintaining success in your relationship, and ultimately success in your event.

Phase I: Planning: Love vs. Work

While planning the event, make sure you communicate to him the importance of your work as chair, and what it means to you, Explain that while you might seem busier than usual, you still plan to prioritize your relationship. Demonstrate this by making extra efforts like scheduling date nights amidst your hurried schedule.

Phase II: Event Night: Actions Speak Louder than Words

The big night arrives and your sweetie is coming along for the ride but the last thing you want is for him to feel like the caboose.

Have him help you pick out your sexiest gown and the lingerie to go with it. This way he’ll know when the last guest has left, he’ll get to take you home and will know exactly what’s in store. When arriving at the event, walk in arm and arm and introduce him around so he feels comfortable and a part of the crowd

Thank your partner in your welcoming remarks, and recognize him for his support. Statistics show that that what you communicate to your partner is mostly through your body language: words are about 7%, tone of voice is about 38% and the remaining 55% are contained in body language and facial expressions. So, simple graces and acts of affection go a long way and so maybe you’ll even find time to sneak off for a few seconds of secret smooching.

Phase III: The Party’s Over

You survived the party and the event was a smash success so you should definitely plan a post party celebration. Go away for a special weekend, borrow a friend’s vacation house or take a day long road trip to your favorite romantic spot. Do something that involves the two of you relaxing and reigniting the flames that might’ve been dormant. Remember that power is sexy, and he just got to witness you showcasing one of your strongest assets so now you can bask in your glory together.
