Tales from the Chair – Dallas: Stacey Ouellette

By Vivanista - March 29, 2010

staceyChair: Stacey Ouellette
Fundraiser: “Days of our Lives” Charity Event
Date: April 17
Beneficiary: Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Dallas Chapter
Event411: Celebrities from the beloved soap opera “Day of Our Lives” will descend upon the Grand Hyatt in Dallas for a multi-event day of fundraising for a Q&A session, a meet-and-greet, cocktail party, and dinner coordinated by the Days Charity Events organization, co-Founded by Stacey Ouellette, which hosts charity events across the country benefiting various nonprofits.

What is new for this year’s event?

For Dallas, this year’s Days event will be benefiting a new charitable organization – the Greater Dallas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association – and will be held in a new venue at the Grand Hyatt hotel.

Why makes this event unique?

Guests are thrilled to attend knowing they are supporting a good cause and they are able to meet their favorite “Days of our Lives” stars.

How do you put the “fun” in your fundraising. What inspires you?

My inspiration comes from seeing the look on people’s faces when a star from “Days of our Lives” walks in the door. We make our own novelties, create our own raffle items, etc. Additionally, the true inspiration is writing out the check to the benefiting organization once the event is over.

What qualities make an event Chair successful?

You have to look outside of the box. In organizing an event, especially one that has celebrities, you have to think about what everyone else would want, not necessarily what you want. And to make money, it is important to continuously look at the bottom line, always looking to see where we can cut costs, etc., and don’t overspend.

What is one fundraising tip you’ve learned that you’re willing to share?

Don’t over price your novelties. Produce a high quantity for a lower price, you will be surprised how much will sell.

Who is your fundraising mentor?

My General Manager, Erica Croce.

What is your life motto?

Live for today because tomorrow may never come.

Obsolete item you won’t toss?

My VCR.

What famous person, living or not, would you like to have dinner with?

Matthew McConaughey
