Volunteer Organization – YWCA Peoria

By Vivanista - March 11, 2010

The YWCA Peoria has championed the rights of women in our society from our founding in 1893. Our early battles included working to reduce the long hours and increase the low wages of women who toiled in Peoria factories, and convincing the business world that women were emotionally and physically capable – of operating a typewriter!

Through the years, the YWCA has remained dedicated to advancing women, serving those in need, and developing leadership skills. We’re a membership organization, and rely on our members, contributors and volunteers to keep us vital and growing.

Our Vision is to empower women, girls and families of all ages, races and economic backgrounds – by promoting healthy lifestyles and self-esteem, building stable home environments, nurturing children and developing leadership and confidence.

The corporate ladder can be climbed in heels!
