‘CELEBRATING CHANGE’ COMES TO CITY VIEW

‘Change’ was in the air as more than 500 patrons and partygoers in festive attire gathered atop the Metreon City View for ‘Celebrating Change,’ the International Museum of Women’s April 27th benefit.  True to its name, the event marked a departure from a traditional sit-down dinner to encompass a variety of experiences that included multi-media exhibits, live performances, and food, wine and spirits from leading women chefs and producers.

Guests entered the space showcasing the San Francisco skyline to experience a variety of hors d’oeuvres and wine tasting stations. The design gamut went from the subdued elegance of the patrons’ dinner to an inviting VIP tent area on the vast terrace.

Event producers were Leftwich Event Specialists Inc, in partnership with Blueprint Studios, Got Light. Food and beverage providers were primarily women in the industry supporting women in the global economy.

Part of the rich texture of the evening’s flow was achieved through live performances throughout the space. All elements were selected and tailored to accentuate the message and mission of the organization—to value the lives of women all over the world–and showcased the museum’s current online exhibition, Economica, focusing on Women and the Global Economy

The four event Co-Chairs — Alison Carlson, Laurie Grayson, Judy Jorgensen and Regina Miranda — along with Celebration co-chairs Michelle Curtis and Victoria Yeager Sawyer, were all heard to express what a transformation the space was from a blank canvas, generously sponsored by Westfield, to a sparkling night that was Celebrating Change.  The event program, presided over by mistress of ceremonies Jan Yanehiro, featured IMOW founder and board chair Elizabeth Colton, executive director Clare Winterton and guest speaker Kavita Ramdas, president and CEO of the Global Fund For Women, and culminated in a fund-a-need.  An estimated $215,000 was raised to benefit the museum.
