PhilanthroPICS: Raphael House Gala
Event Recaps, Philanthropy 101 0 Comments
The Event: On June 7, 2010, over 100 guests gathered to honor Executive Director Fr. David Lowell and his wife Elaine’s 25 years of service at Raphael House. The dinner at the Presidio Café celebrated the Lowells’ retirement and their unwavering commitment to serving families.
The Cause: The gala benefitted the Raphael House, the first shelter in San Francisco for families experiencing homelessness. Since they opened their doors in 1971, they have sheltered more than 17,000 individuals. Their key to success has been support from the community, including over 12,000 people who have volunteered their time and money to further the organization’s mission. Furthermore, Raphael House’s staff, Board of Directors, as well as live-in staff are members of the local community. In fact, the organization’s budget is entirely funded by private sources that are dedicated to promoting stability for at-risk families.
