Making a Difference with MarbleRoad
Behind the Scenes, Event Recaps, Events 0 CommentsThe Celebration: Howard Liebers and MarbleRoad celebrate their launch with a festive art auction held on the 20th Anniversary of Make a Difference Day.
The Cause: Proceeds from the event benefit people affected by complex illnesses. MarbleRoad provides financial assistance for patients with rare disorders and patients of community health centers who seek specialty care services not offered by their primary care providers.
The Credentials:The program featured a speech by MarbleRoad Founder and CEO Howard Liebers, in addition to a few words shared by DC based artist and advocate Regina Holliday and by MarbleRoad Board Member Alison Whyte. The event also offered a screening of the brief 18-minute version of Mito-Kids, a documentary about four children in the Dole family (ages 15-19) and how they live with their individual disorders caused by Mitochondria Disease. At the event guests had an opportunity to bid on paintings donated by artists from around the country, many of which were inspired by a health care experience (including multiple sclerosis, cystic fibrosis, kidney cancer and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis).
